FILIPINAS UNDER THE MASKS - Heidi ( 1 )

I am going to start a new series that visually capture the portraits of Filipinas living in Hong Kong as Overseas Workers under the threat of coronavirus infections in the City. My portraits of Filipinas are made during casual encounters, they are not made upon appointments or under preset conditions. These Filipinas, THEY are wives, mothers, divorcees taking up a task of being a single-mother providing needies for her children back in the Philippines. These women are sent here to work as Helpers for local Chinese and expat families providing domestic services which help to lighten mental pressures and physical burdens of their employers. Their contribution to Hong Kong society is not something we can ignore and be taken lightly.

With the outbreak of PANDEMIC introduced by coronavirus associated with China Pneumonia originated in the CHINA MAINLAND end last year, Overseas Workers in Hong Kong are living in a fear of virus infections, a termination of contract and unemployment . Their LIFE, have become more vulnerable to the extra pressure caused by sudden outbreak of unexpected pandemic. Nevertheless, with the spirit of optimism and inner-strength to ride out their hardship with smile and laughters, Women of Philippines are showing their resilience, energy and courage to carry on with their lives in the City which is not always kind to them.

I am going to document these lovely women living and working under the global PANDEMIC that's threatening their livelihood, sharing the same place, living under the same roof called HONG KONG.

This, is for all Filipinas.
